The Tata Prima FL 5530.S is a 6x4 tractor head rated for a 55,000 kg GCW and a 40,000 kg payload, built for heavy long-haul semi-trailer work such as steel coils, containers and ODC cargo. It uses the Cummins ISBe 6.7-litre BS-VI diesel making 300 hp and 1100 Nm from 1100-1700 rpm, paired with a 9-speed manual gearbox and a pull-type 430 mm clutch, and it can reach 90 km/h.

On a 3890 mm wheelbase it has a balance-beam bogie rear suspension with torque rods, a heavy-duty forged front axle and a 557-litre fuel tank. The tiltable Prima FL cabin comes in day or sleeper form with D+2 seating, a tilting steering column, an adjustable seat and fog lamps.
