The BharatBenz 4628T 4x2 is a tractor head rated for a 45,500 kg GCW with a 35,000 kg payload, for long-haul semi-trailer operators who want a strong, simple two-axle prime mover. It uses the 7.2-litre six-cylinder OM 926 BS-VI OBD-2 diesel producing 210 kW and 1100 Nm, paired with the G131 9-speed synchromesh gearbox and a 430 mm clutch.

On a 3600 mm wheelbase it has 304 mm ground clearance, a 13.1 m turning radius, parabolic front springs with twin shock absorbers, semi-elliptic rear springs with auxiliary springs, the IR440 rear axle, dual-line drum brakes with ABS and a 455 or 430-litre fuel tank. The tiltable sleeper cabin seats D+2.
